Think about... #11

“You may delay, but time will not.”

- Benjamin Franklin

Hello and welcome!

Remember, achieving success in this noise phobia therapy – a step to ensure your dog‘s health and happiness – is more like a long distance running, rather than a sprint. It is best for you and your dog to approach this as one of the things that you simply need to do on a daily basis, while you are going through the Steps. When you have finished Step 5, you are free! Except it is highly advisable, can I say necessary, long after the process is finished, to maintain the sound immunity, by playing the sounds once in a while again, and especially before known, scary events.

This is just as muscle strength, that you have gained in the gym, must be maintained. If you sit down on a sofa in front of the TV for a year, doing nothing with your body, then you will surely end up as a couch potato!  Some people start this kind of thing very enthusiastically and then lose their mojo. Please, please, for your dog, build this into a habit. It‘s only a few weeks or months anyway.  And this is just about pushing a button on the audio device, and then you can do whatever you please while the audio device does its job.

Page Suggestion: The Fear Signs page

Is your dog distressed or relaxec and indifferent during the playing of the therapy sounds? These are the signs that will guide you wether it is necessary to continue playing the sounds in this place at the volume level of your present Step, or if it is time to step up to the next Step above, and raise the volume a bit. Turn to the Fear Signs page for an in-depth overview of the fear signs that will tell you if your dog is or is not ready for a step up in sound volume.
